The Challenge: Nobody Cites a Product Listing

A jewelry e-commerce store sells through product and collection pages, and those pages rarely earn links. Writers cite market data, history and culture, not a ring listing. The store needed links from sites that write about jewelry, fashion, culture and business.

That meant publishing pages worth quoting. The open question was which kind: industry numbers, culture pieces, or both.

The brief: earn links for a jewelry store by publishing statistics and culture pages writers want to cite, then measure which type works.

The Strategy: Two Kinds of Statistics Pages

The set has 11 pages in two groups. Market and industry pages cover jewelry market size, online jewelry sales, lab-grown diamonds, diamond history and gold history. Culture and style pages cover a rich list of rappers, hip-hop history, men's jewelry and fashion trends, engagement ring trends and moissanite facts.

The rule going in: give each audience a page it would link to, whether that is a business writer after market size or a culture blogger after a ranked list.

The aim was never volume for its own sake. It was a reference page for each topic that a real writer would be glad to find.

The Build: 11 Pages, Tracked One by One

We checked every page individually in Ahrefs Site Explorer using the Backlinks report with one link per domain, so each number counts a linking site once per page, however many times it links.

Why It Worked

Three patterns stood out. We read them from the data and have not tested them in controlled experiments.

One culture page and one market page carried the study

The rich list brought 52 domains and the jewelry market size page brought 34, together 86 of 104. Both cover topics that many sites write about.

Different pages attract different linkers

The market size pages drew business sites: a dropshipping platform, a wholesale marketplace, an AI tool and an e-commerce support blog. The rich list drew celebrity and net-worth sites.

Not every page needs to win

Five of the nine linked pages have a single referring domain. They show interest in the topic, and they are the shortlist for a stronger second version.

The Honest Caveats

We report what the data shows, including the parts a polished case study usually rounds away:

Many rich list links are nofollow.

Of the six highest-traffic referrers we read on the rich list, five carry nofollow. Net-worth sites tend to cite without passing authority.

Two pages carry the study.

The two top pages hold 86 of 104 domains. The median linked page has 1, and two of 11 pages have none.

Sites can be counted twice.

One business site links to both market size pages, and totals add up each page's domains. The count of unique sites is lower than 104.

Links, not rankings or traffic.

This study measures referring domains in Ahrefs. It does not claim rankings, traffic or sales.

One snapshot, one date.

Checked on 11 October 2026. Links get added and lost, so counts will move.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of jewelry content earns backlinks?

In this study a ranked culture list earned the most domains (52) and a market size page came second (34). Both cover topics many sites write about.

Do culture pages help a jewelry store?

They earned links, but many came from net-worth sites and are nofollow in the rows we read. Market size pages drew more business sites.

Why do some pages only have one link?

Narrower topics get fewer citations. Pages with one link are the shortlist for a stronger second version.

Does a statistics page guarantee rankings or traffic?

No. This study measures referring domains in Ahrefs and does not claim rankings, traffic or sales.

Key Takeaways

1

Product pages do not earn links.

Reference pages do. Give writers market data and culture pieces to cite.

2

Pick two or three big topics.

A rich list and a market size page produced 86 of 104 domains.

3

Match the page to the linker.

Business sites link to market numbers. Culture sites link to ranked lists.

4

Check link type.

Net-worth style links are often nofollow. Value them as visibility, not authority.

5

Report links as links.

Show the count, the spread and the weak spots. Do not turn referring domains into promises about sales.
